Immiracism
The story surfaced on CNN on Oct 24. “Get a conscience, not a costume,” is the title. It is focused on a new wave of Halloween costumes, an alien carrying a green card. The story claims racism on part of the producer, but I agree with the manufacturer’s statement, “The only people getting upset are the hypersensitive, over-politically correct, pro-amnesty, illegal alien-supporting nuts.”
First off, what a marketing plan, make something controversial and don’t apologize. Welcome to American Rudy Ruiz (author of the story). I am free to wear a gorilla suit and drive a low rider if I want. I can drink Corona and rant in Spanish wearing a mustache. This is America, not the left-wing world in your head.
Secondly, anti-immigration is NOT racism. That, Rudy, is just a ridiculous word-play to gain support. I see the obvious “problem” with the costume, but you cannot claim racism. For the sake of argument, I don’t know any Latinos, and I buy the costume, Am I a racist? No, I am “not PC,” but you have no evidence of racism.
This story is a blatant example of “ultra-dumb” (my term). Thank you CNN, you have ruined the news. Your 24 hour news cast makes reporting worthwhile news a scare item. You have allowed people like Rudy to voice their opinion because it gains support for your fight, which has no side – you just seek a fight. It’s like a playground bully, he doesn’t care… he just wants attention and knows he gets it by fighting.
Side Note: Want to see something cool? I’m going to tag this article “racism” and it will get 3 times as many hits as my other articles. Yes, it’s a marketing technique, I could name a toy the “racist Barbie” and CNN will write a story that boasts sales. Attention start-up companies, be extreme and let CNN will sell your crap.
