Lack of Priorities
As a species on this green Earth, where are our priorities? What is it that we are thinking that leads us in this direction? Where will we be in 1000 years?
Religion states that we are here to procreate, to reproduce ourselves. Politicians state that we are here to solve problems of others on this planet. Liberals say we are here to spread the goodwill we have to others. Corporations think we are here to enhance the economy. What is it that we truly do though?
Should we be listening to these leaders and following those beliefs? Shouldn’t we be creating our own priorities? I see so many problems with the world, so many things that we do as humans that just don’t make any sense. We need to develop a worldwide plan, of sorts, for the human race. As I see it, the number one priority should be survival until the end of time. Why do we focus on so many stupid, small things in the world? Consider the scale of the world, the vastness of morals, or beliefs, or cultures. The way I see it, each culture, each belief, invokes a form of Nazism. Each believes that they are correct and that they deserve to succeed before any other. This is the downfall of our species. This leads to war. This leads to global inconsistencies. Forget the small stuff; eliminate the wasted manpower and resources to solve stupid, small problems with the world. I’m sorry, but at the global scale, should we really concern ourselves with gay marriage or with how the American Idol voting was corrupted? We need to break this predicament down to its base level. We are animals. We are the result of millions of mutations in the genetic code. Some consider this a religious anomaly; that is fine, but the fact remains that we exist as part of this environment we call Earth. The truly amazing thing is that we have no overall set of priorities. Consider each species on this planet; they have very simple priorities: survive, spread, and just be. What is the basic priority of the human species? Each culture dictates what they believe to be the correct path. Overall, there is nothing though. I propose a simple list, a list of things we need to strive for as a species. Notice that there isn’t anything about civil liberties, cultural beliefs, or personal agendas.
-Survive until the end of time
-Take responsibility for the species, not the sects therein
-Find an equilibrium in which we can thrive
-Accept people as different and remember the common goal of humanity
I’ll paraphrase Agent Smith’s view of our species from the motion picture The Matrix:. We are not mammals; mammals naturally find this equilibrium and stay within it. We are a virus feeding on the planet until we no longer can survive.
Personally, I cannot rest until this view can be disproved. Isn’t it about time we set our personal goals aside and start focusing on mankind as a whole?
